Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-18
Lee’s Summit Post (“we,” “us”) is a publication of Plenara Media LLC. This policy describes what information we collect when you use leessummitpost.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a subscription news site — your email address if you sign in or subscribe, payment records handled by Stripe, and a few first-party cookies. We don’t run ads, we don’t use third-party trackers or analytics, and we don’t sell or share your personal information for advertising.
Information we collect
Account information. If you sign in or subscribe, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and a Google account identifier from Google; we do not receive your contacts, calendar, or any other Google data.
Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly with Stripe and never touch our systems. We store your subscription status and a reference to your Stripe customer record.
Technical information. Like most websites, our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) processes standard connection data, including your IP address, to serve the site and protect it from abuse. We use your IP address for one purpose of our own: limiting how often sign-in emails can be requested, to prevent abuse. These rate-limit records are deleted automatically on a short schedule.
Cookies
We set only first-party cookies, all functional. We do not use advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Session | Keeps you signed in. Stored on our servers only as a cryptographic hash. | 30 days |
| Sign-in hint | Lets the page header show your signed-in state. Contains no personal data. | 30 days |
| Article meter | Counts free articles read, so we can offer a limited number in each rolling free-article window (the current allowance appears on our subscribe page). Contains a random identifier and the list of articles counted — no name, email, or account link. Cryptographically signed to prevent tampering. | About twice the free-article window |
| Sign-in transaction | Used only during a Google sign-in, to secure the handshake. | 10 minutes |
If you block or clear cookies, the site still works, but you won’t stay signed in and your free-article count may reset.
How we use information
We use the information above to: operate the site and deliver articles; send sign-in links and subscription-related emails; process payments and manage subscriptions; enforce the free-article meter; secure the service and prevent abuse; and comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not send marketing email.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers that run the site, and only as needed for them to do so:
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Website hosting, content delivery, and our subscriber database |
| Stripe | Payment processing and subscription billing |
| Resend | Delivery of sign-in and account emails |
| Only if you choose to sign in with Google |
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, our readers, or the public.
How long we keep information
Sign-in tokens, rate-limit records, and expired sessions are deleted automatically on a scheduled basis. Payment and subscription records are retained as required for accounting and tax purposes. Your account information (email address and subscription history) is retained while your account exists.
To request deletion of your account information, email [email protected]. We will delete it except where we are required to retain records (for example, payment records required for tax purposes).
Your choices
- Access or deletion. Email [email protected] to request a copy or deletion of the personal information we hold about you.
- Cancel anytime. You can cancel your subscription at any time through the subscription management page; see our Terms of Service.
- Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, with the functional limits noted above.
Security
Sign-in links expire after a short period and can be used only once. Session identifiers are stored only as cryptographic hashes. Cookies that secure your account are protected against script access, and traffic to the site is encrypted in transit.
Children
Lee’s Summit Post is a general-audience news publication and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes affecting subscribers, provide notice by email or on the site.
